In this second instalment, we take a look at overcab motorhomes which, as the name suggests, have a bonnet over the driver and passenger seats – a sort of hump housing a double bed. Thanks to this space, they work well both day and night, since the beds are already made up, and they're traditionally associated with families with children under around 14 who want the beds permanently ready and space to live together during the day. They're also typical of large families, and even of those simply after space and somewhere to live, since the bed above the cab is always set up. The truth is, though, that since they come in a range of layouts, they suit almost anyone and any situation.
At TTCamper we usually stock overcabs of several different types, such as:

  • Bunk beds (along one side or at the rear), mainly for the children, with a third bed in the lounge. Can seat up to 7 for travel.
  • Facing double lounge, seating up to 7 for travel, which, together with rear bunks, aims to provide plenty of daytime living space.
  • Small overcabs (up to around 6.5 metres), with a low-profile-style lounge when the front seats are swivelled round, and bunk, transverse or even French beds at the rear. Seating up to 5 for travel.
  • A large rear garage without giving up sleeping capacity, thanks to a transverse bed below and a third bed in the lounge; depending on size, these can seat between 4 and 6.
  • A low French bed, for those who prefer to leave the upper bed for their children while still enjoying a comfortable sleep when travelling alone.
  • Twin beds, for maximum night-time comfort, a garage or an oversized rear bed – and a vehicle you can still travel in even when the children aren't along.
