Integral motorhome: advantages, disadvantages and recommended models in 2026
Everything about integral motorhomes: why they are the premium range, how much they consume, which brands lead the market and how to choose the right one according to your budget and use.

The integral motorhome is the premium option on the market. If you are considering making the jump from a profiled model or starting directly with the high segment, this post helps you understand what you gain, what you sacrifice and which models are worth it in the current used market.
At TTCamper we have been selling complete motorhomes from the most prestigious brands in Europe for more than 15 years. We know where real shoes are tight and which models maintain their value.
What is an integral motorhome?
An integral motorhome is built by completely replacing the cabin of the base vehicle (Fiat Ducato, Mercedes Sprinter, Iveco Daily) with a new cabin integrated with the cabin. Only the chassis, engine and mechanical components remain from the original manufacturer.
This translates into three differentiating characteristics:
- Single cabin with the passenger compartment — same material, same quality, same insulation
- Front panoramic window — 180° view from the living room
- Motorized tilting bed — lowers from the ceiling over the living room area
The 5 great advantages of a comprehensive
1. Superior habitability
With the same external length, an integral one offers between 10% and 20% more useful volume than a profiled one. The integrated cabin allows for wider hallways and larger kitchens. For couples who spend 1-2 months at a time in the motorhome, this difference is very noticeable.
2. Thermal insulation without compromise
The cabin of the base van has thermal bridges, large, poorly insulated windows and less watertight doors. An integral one is built with a 30-50 mm sandwich panel throughout its envelope. This means:
- Less heating consumption in winter (25-40% less)
- Cooler in summer
- Feasible ski trips without condensation or humidity
3. Panoramic window
It's not just aesthetic. The rear window of the cabin allows you to take advantage of the living room with views: have breakfast watching the sea, read with the mountain landscape in front of you, work with a desk looking outside. The profiled ones keep the windshield of the van and do not offer this experience.
4. Tilting bed = always usable living room
The bed is lowered from the ceiling at night and stowed away during the day. You don't have to convert the living room into a bedroom or vice versa. If your integral also has a fixed bed in the stern (very common), you have two completely independent bedrooms.
5. Residual value
The integral ones from premium brands (Hymer, Carthago, Concorde, Bürstner, Pilote) maintain the price better than most profiled ones. A well-maintained 8-10 year old integral can sell for 55-65% of its initial price. A profiled one at the same original price, at 40-50%.
The disadvantages you should know
1. Consumption
Larger front section and more weight = more consumption. A 3.5 t integral on the highway at 110 km/h is around 10-11.5 l/100 km, compared to 8-10 for an equivalent profiled one. Over 20,000 km per year, it is about €300-400 more fuel.
2. Maneuverability and height
Typical height 2.95-3.20 m, compared to 2.85-2.95 m for a profiled one. This excludes you from:
- Underground parking (most limit to 2.10-2.50 m)
- Some ferries (check maximum height in reservation)
- Certain tunnels and secondary roads
It is also more sensitive to side winds and more complicated to maneuver in tight curves or narrow town streets.
3. Purchase price
With the same brand, equipment and length, an integral one costs between €10,000 and €20,000 more than a profiled one. On occasion, this difference is maintained proportionally.
4. Cabin repair
If you have an accident on the front, the repair is more expensive in a comprehensive one. The cabin is specific to the motorhome manufacturer, not the base van, and some parts may take weeks to arrive.
The 5 most recommended integral models in 2026
1. Hymer B-Class MasterLine (high-end)

Occasion price: 75,000 - 110,000 € · Length: 6.80-7.50 m
The German reference brand in construction quality. Superior insulation, premium finishes and one of the best soundproofing on the market. Fiat Ducato or Mercedes chassis.
3. Bürstner Elegance / Delfin

The perfect German balance: consistent quality at a more affordable price than Hymer/Carthago. Very good value for money.
4. Pilote Galaxy / Pacific
Occasion price: 50,000 - 85,000 € · Length: 6.50-7.50 m
The premium French option. Very well equipped as standard and with a differentiated aesthetic. Residual value slightly lower than the German ones but it compensates in the purchase price.

Which one to choose according to your budget?

- Budget €60,000-80,000: Bürstner Elegance, Pilote Pacific, Carthago base, Hymer B-Class from 8-10 years old
- Budget €80,000-110,000: Carthago chic c-line, Hymer B-Class MasterLine, Concorde entry-level
- Budget €110,000 and up: Concorde Liner, Frankia I-series, Carthago chic s-plus
100 point inspection before purchasing
A used integral is an important investment. The critical points to inspect are:
- Moisture on roof and sides: the No. 1 enemy of old integrals. If the top gasket leaks, it is an expensive repair.
- Tipping bed mechanism: electric motor, shock absorbers and guides. A complete repair costs €800-1,500.
- Low chassis condition: rust, knocks on crossbars.
- Workshop and maintenance history: a comprehensive without a maintained book is a box of surprises.
At TTCamper we carry out a 100-point inspection on each vehicle before selling it. Engine, chassis, electricity, water and gas systems, body and cabin. Warranty included in all vehicles.
Finance your integral for 14 years without down payment
Comprehensive loans are the most suitable vehicles for long-term financing. A comprehensive package of €80,000 financed for 14 years without entry comes to around €700 per month. With Cetelem for second-hand and BBVA for new ones, we simulate your financing in less than 24 hours without obligation.
Come see them in Totana, Murcia
The best way to decide is to see them in person. At our dealership we have several complete units on display so you can compare brands, try the tilting bed, and feel the difference in insulation and windows.
We are at C. El Naranjo, 26 — Polígono Industrial El Saladar, Totana (Murcia), 5 minutes from the A-7 highway (exit 610). Call 606 074 116 to arrange a visit or come directly from Monday to Friday 9:00-14:00 / 16:00-19:00 or Saturdays 10:00-13:00.
